It was widely expected that we would see the new iPhone 5 launched in September this year but it looks as though Apple are considering a new August launch in order to compete with another major smartphone that has been launched this year.

In May we saw the new Samsung Galaxy S3 released and this handset has proven as popular as many experts predicted. Its predecessor, the Galaxy S2 shifted over 30 million units and it is expected that the new S3 will hit the ten million mark by the end of July. There is no question that this is the biggest rival to the iPhone 5 and its early release has potentially eaten into a big chunk of Apple’s market share. By bringing the launch date of the new iPhone 5 forward it gives Apple the opportunity to not only compete with Samsung but also to divert much media attention away from the device Apple are not renowned for rushing thing, many consumers waited almost four years for improved camera features on the iPhone, but on this occasion they look set to speed up the process or potentially face losing out to Samsung.
It looks as though we do not have long to wait until we get to meet the new iPhone 5. The traditional September launch looks set to be brought forward in reaction to the Galaxy S3 launch which could prove a wise move from Apple. The new model will feature some super specification together with a completely new design.
