German website iPhone-tricks.de reports that Deutsche Telekom (DT) has begun issuing pre-order tickets for the iPhone 5. The pre-order tickets give users the ability to get their hands on the iPhone 5 on the day it gets released.
DT had earlier issued pre-order tickets for iPhone 4S when it came out in October last year. These pre-order tickets work pretty much similar to first-come-first-serve basis but only that you get to ensure that you are one of the firsts to receive the iPhone 5 when it is launched in the market. We’re not exactly going to say this is an official confirmation of earlier reports about iPhone 5 release date that surfaced last week through iMore, The Loop etc. However, we can safely assume that even carriers are expecting Apple to launch iPhone 5 this September.
Talk around the cyberspace about iPhone 5 announcements and launch date is very much positive about the expected September 12 announcement date. Nobody’s questioning the “if” now. It’s not even on the “when.”
Elsewhere, Vodafone is also expected to give pre-order tickets across Europe.
We’ve been hearing consistently that Apple’s next-gen iPhone could be made available for pre-order on the day of its launch. If the pre-orders start on September 12th, in all probability (and judging from iPhone 4S’s performance), the pre-order stocks would run out by the end of the week.
Interestingly, that’s the day hinted for iPhone 5′s official entry into the public market – September 21st.
Our readers in Europe, who’d like to buy the iPhone 5 right when it launches, would do good to get one of these pre-order tickets as they appear. The sooner, the better. The website reports that the iPhone 5 would be sent by DHL right on the day of its launch to those who obtain the pre-order tickets.
Although there’s been no news from Apple yet, media is eagerly awaiting the invites which would begin their circulation sometime later this month (or early next month).
